Crewsaver has unveiled a new innovation to increase the safety of lifejackets.

The Exolok lock locks the lifejacket’s gas cylinder in place and ensures that the cylinder cannot come loose. The system consists of a plastic locking collar, a sticker and a protective net for the cylinder. From now on, all Crewsaver vests leaving the factory will have this system as standard. However, it can be retrofitted to Crewsaver’s own vests and is also compatible with vests from other manufacturers. The system is available for both UML and Halkey Roberts triggers. Here’s how to install the system: 1. Remove the cylinder. 2. Attach the locking collar. 3. Align the arrow on the sticker with the arrow on the locking collar and secure. You can check the tightness of the gas cylinder with a one-off calibration – when the arrows are in line, the cylinder is in alignment. The price of the Exolok locking system should be around ten euros.
